Chapter 1	( part 1 )

1. YHVH Spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai in the Tent of Meeting,
2. on the 1st of the 2nd month in the 2nd year.
3. after they had come out of the land of egypt,
4. Saying take a census of all the congregation.

5. the sons of Israel by their families,
6. and by their fathers' households.
7. according to the number of names,
8. every male head by head.

9. from 20 years old and upward,
10. whoever is able to go out to war for Israel.
11. for you and Aaron shall number them by their armies,
12. a male of each tribe each 1 by the Head of his father's household.

13. these are the names of the men who shall stand with you,
14. for Reuben  Elizur the son of Shedeur.
15. for Simeon  Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai,
16. for Judah  Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

17. for Issachar  Nethanel the son of Zuar,
18. for Zebulun  Eliab the son of Helon.
19. for the sons of Joseph,
20. of Ephraim  Elishama the son of Ammihud.

21. for Manasseh  Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur,
22. for Benjamin  Abidan the son of Gideoni.
23. for Dan  Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai,
24. for Asher  Pagiel the son of Ochran.

25. for Gad  Eliasaph the son of Deuel,
26. for Naphtali Ahira the son of Enan.
27. these are they who were called of the congregation,
28. the Leaders of their fathers' tribes.

29. they were the Heads of the divisions of Israel,
30. Moses and Aaron took these men.
31. who had been designated by name,
32. they assembled all the congregation together.

33. on the 1st of the 2nd month,
34. they registered by ancestry.
35. their families by their fathers' households,
36. according to the number by names.

37. from 20 years old and upward,
38. head by head.
39. just as YHVH Commanded Moses,
40. he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.

41. now the sons of Reuben Israel's 1st-born,
42. their genealogical registration by their families.
43. by their fathers' households,
44. according to the number by names.

45. head by head,
46. every male from 20 years old and upward.
47. whoever was to go out to war,
48. their numbered men from the tribe of Reuben were 46,500.

49. the sons of Simeon,
50. their genealogical registration by their families.
51. by their fathers' households with their numbered men,
52. according to the number by names.

53. head by head,
54. every male from 20 years old and upward.
55. whoever was to go out to war,
56. their numbered men from the tribe of Simeon were 59,300.

57. the sons of Gad,
58. their genealogical registration by their families.

137. these are the ones who were numbered,
138. whom Moses and Aaron numbered with the Leaders of Israel.
139.  12 men each of whom was for his father's household.
140. so all the numbered men of the sons from Israel by their fathers' households.

141. from 20 years old and upward,
142. whoever was to go out to war in Israel.
143. even all the numbered men,
144.  603,550.

145. the Levites were not numbered among them by their fathers' tribe,
146. for YHVH had Spoken to Moses.
147. Saying only the tribe of Levi you shall not number,
148. nor shall you take their census among the sons of Israel.

149. you shall appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle and the Testimony,
150. over all the Furnishings and over all they shall carry.
151. the Tabernacle and all the Furnishings they shall take care of,
152. they shall camp around the Tabernacle.

153. when the Tabernacle is to set out,
154. the Levites shall take down.
155. when the Tabernacle encamps,
156. the Levites shall set up.

157. the layman who comes near will be put to death,
158. the sons of Israel shall camp each male by his own camp.
159. each male by his own standard according to their armies,
160. the Levites shall camp around the Tabernacle with the Testimony.

161. so there may be no wrath on the congregation of the sons of Israel.
162. the Levites shall keep charge of the Tabernacle and the Testimony.
163. thus the sons of Israel did according to all which YHVH Commanded Moses,
164. so they did.

165. YHVH Spoke to Moses and Aaron,
166. Saying the sons of Israel shall camp each by his own standard.
167. by the banners of their fathers' households they shall camp around the Tent of Meeting at a distance.
168. who will camp on the east side toward the sunrise.

169. the standard of the camp of Judah,
170. by their armies with the Leader for the sons of Judah.
171. Nahshon the son of Amminadab with his army,
172. their numbered men 74,600.

173. those who camp next the tribe of Issachar,
174. with the Leader for the sons of Issachar.
175. Nethanel the son of Zuar,
176. his army of their numbered men 54,400.

177. the tribe of Zebulun,
178. with the Leader for the sons of Zebulun.
179. Eliab the son of Helon with his army,
180. even his numbered men 57,400.

181. the total of the numbered men,
182. the camp of Judah.
183. 186,400,
184. by their armies they shall set out 1st.

185. on the south side shall be the standard for the camp of Reuben,
186. by their armies with the Leader for the sons of Reuben.
187. Elizur the son of Shedeur with his army,
188. their numbered men 46,500.

189. who camp next the tribe of Simeon,
190. with the Leader for the sons of Simeon.
191. Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai his army,
192. their numbered men 59,300.

193. the tribe of Gad,
194. with the Leader for the sons of Gad.
195. Eliasaph the son of Deuel with his army,
196. their numbered men 45,650.

197. the total of the numbered men,
198. the camp of Reuben.
199. 151,450,
200. by their armies they shall set out 2nd.

201. as the Tent of Meeting sets out from camp,
202. the Levites are to be in the midst of the camps.
203. just as they camp so they shall set out,
204. every male in his place by their standards.

205. on the west side is the standard of the camp of Ephraim.
206. by their armies with the Leader for the sons of Ephraim.
207. Elishama the son of Ammihud with his army,
208. their numbered men 40,500.

209. next the tribe of Manasseh,
210. the Leader for the sons of Manasseh.
211. Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur with his army,
212. their numbered men 32,200.

213. then comes the tribe of Benjamin,
214. the Leader for the sons of Benjamin.
215. Abidan the son of Gideoni with his army,
216. their numbered men 35,400.

217. the total of the numbered men.
218. the camp of Ephraim.
219. 108,100,
220. by their armies they shall set out 3rd.

221. on the north side shall be the standard for the camp of Dan,
222. by their armies with the Leader for the sons of Dan.
223. Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai with his army,
224. their numbered men 62,700.

225. those who camp next the tribe of Asher,
226. the Leader for the sons of Asher.
227. Pagiel the son of Ochran with his army,
228. their numbered men 41,500.

229. the tribe of Naphtali,
230. the Leader for the sons of Naphtali.
231. Ahira the son of Enan with his army,
232. their numbered men 53,400.

233. the total of the numbered men,
234. the camp of Dan.
235. 157,600,
236. they shall set out last by their standards.

237. these are the numbered men from the sons of Israel,
238. by their fathers' households.
239. the total of the numbered men from the camps by their armies,
240. 603,550.

241. the Levites however were not numbered among the sons of Israel,
242. just as YHVH had Commanded Moses.
243. thus the sons of Israel did,
244. according to all YHVH Commanded Moses.

245. so they camped by their standards,
246. and so they set out.
247. every 1 by his family,
248. according to his father's household.

Chapter 2	( part 1 )

1. these are the records of the generations of Aaron and Moses,
2. at the time when YHVH Spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai.
3. these are the names of the sons of Aaron,
4. Nadab the 1st-born  Abihu  Eleazar and Ithamar.

5. these are the names of the sons of Aaron,
6. the Anointed Priests whom he Ordained to serve as Priests. }}

7. Nadab and Abihu died before YHVH,
8. for they offered strange fire before YHVH in the wilderness of Sinai.
9. they had no children,
10. Eleazar and Ithamar served as Priests in the lifetime of their father Aaron.

11. YHVH Spoke to Moses,
12. Saying bring the tribe of Levi near.
13. set them before Aaron the Priest that they may serve him,
14. they shall perform the duties for him and for the whole congregation.

15. before the Tent of Meeting,
16. to do the service for the Tabernacle.
17. they shall keep all the Furnishings of the Tent of Meeting,
18. along with the duties for the sons of Israel to do service of the Tabernacle.

19. you shall thus give the Levites to Aaron and to his sons,
20. they are wholly given to him from among the sons of Israel.
21. appoint Aaron and his sons to keep their Priesthood,
22. but the layman who comes near shall be put to death.

Chapter 2	( part 2 )

23. again YHVH Spoke to Moses,
24. Saying now behold I have taken the Levites from among the sons of Israel.
25. instead of every 1st-born of the 1st issue of the womb among the sons of Israel,
26. the Levites shall be MINE.

27. for all the 1st-born are MINE,
28. on the day I struck down all the 1st-born in the land of egypt.
29. I Sanctified to MYSELF all the 1st-born in Israel from male and beast,
30. they shall be MINE for I AM YHVH.

Chapter 3

1. YHVH Spoke to Moses,
2. in the wilderness of Sinai.
3. Saying number the sons of Levi,
4. by their fathers' households.

5. by their families every male,
6. from a month old and upward you shall number.
7. Moses numbered them according to the Word from YHVH,
8. just as he had been Commanded.

9. these are the sons of Levi by their names,
10. Gershon  Kohath and Merari.
11. these are the names of the sons of Gershon,
12. by their families Libni and Shimei.

13. the sons of Kohath,
14. by their families Amram  Izhar  Hebron and Uzziel.
15. the sons of Merari,
16. by their families Mahli and Mushi.

17. these are the families of the Levites
18. according to their fathers' households. }}

19. Gershon was the family of the Libnites and the family of the Shimeites,
20. these were the families of the Gershonites with their numbered men.
21. in the numbering of every male from a month old and upward,
22. their numbered men were 7,500.

23. the families of the Gershonites,
24. camp behind the Tabernacle westward.
25. the Leader for the fathers' households of the Gershonites,
26. Eliasaph the son of Lael.

27. now the duties for the sons of Gershon for the Tent of Meeting,
28. the Tabernacle  Tent Covering  Screen and Doorway for the Tent of Meeting.
29. the Hangings of the court  the Screen and the Doorway of the court which is around the Tabernacle  the Altar and Cords,
30. according to all the service concerning them.

31. Kohath was the family of the Amramites,
32. the family of the Izharites.
33. the family of the Hebronites and the family of the Uzzielites,
34. these were the families of the Kohathites.

35. in the numbering of every male from a month old and upward,
36. there were 8,600 performing the duties for the Sanctuary.
37. the families from the sons of Kohath,
38. camp on the southward side of the Tabernacle.

39. the Leader for the fathers' households from the Kohathite families,
40. Elizaphan the son of Uzziel.
41. their duties involved the Ark  Table  Lampstand  Altars and Utensils in the Sanctuary with which they minister,
42. the Screen and all the service concerning them.

43. Eleazar the son of Aaron the Priest was the Chief of the Leaders of Levi,
44. he had the oversight of those who perform the duties for the Sanctuary. }}

45. Merari was the family of the Mahlites,
46. the family of the Mushites.
47. these were the families of Merari,
48. their numbered men.

49. in the numbering of every male from a month old and upward,
50. 6,200.
51. the Leader for the fathers' households of the families from Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail,
52. they camped on the northward side of the Tabernacle.

53. now the appointed duties for the sons of Merari,
54. the Frames of the Tabernacle  Bars  Pillars and Sockets.
55. all the Equipment and the service concerning them,
56. the Pillars around the court with their Sockets  Pegs and Cords.

57. who were to camp before the Tabernacle eastward before the Tent of Meeting,
58. toward the sunrise are Moses and Aaron and his sons.
59. performing the duties in the Sanctuary and for the obligation for the sons of Israel,
60. the layman coming near was to be put to death.

61. all the numbered men from the Levites whom Moses and Aaron numbered,
62. at the Command of YHVH by their families.
63. every male from a month old and upward,
64. 22,000.

Chapter 4

1. YHVH Said to Moses,
2. number every 1st-born male from the sons of Israel.
3. from a month old and upward,
4. make a list of their names.

5. you shall take from Levites for ME YHVH,
6. instead of all the 1st-born among the sons from Israel and the cattle from the Levites.
7. instead of all the 1st-born among the cattle of the sons of Israel,
8. Moses numbered all the 1st-born among the sons of Israel.

9. just as YHVH had Commanded him.
10. all the 1st-born males by number and name.
11. from a month old and upward,
12. their numbered men were 22,273.

Chapter 5

1. YHVH Spoke to Moses,
2. Saying take the Levites instead of all the 1st-born among the sons of Israel and the cattle of the Levites.
3. the Levites shall be MINE,
4. I AM YHVH.

5. for the Ransom of the 273 of the 1st-born of the sons of Israel,
6. who are in excess beyond the Levites.
7. you shall take 5 shekels apiece per head,
8. you shall take them in terms of the shekel of the Sanctuary. {(the shekel is 20 gerahs)}

9. give the money, }}
10. the Ransom of those who are in excess among them to Aaron and to his sons.
11. Moses took the Ransom money from those who were in excess,
12. beyond those Ransomed by the Levites.

13. from the 1st-born of the sons of Israel he took the money,
14. in terms of the shekel of the Sanctuary 1,365.
15. Moses gave the Ransom money to Aaron and to his sons at the Command by YHVH,
16. just as YHVH had Commanded Moses.

Chapter 6

1. YHVH Spoke to Moses and Aaron,
2. Saying take a census from the descendants of Kohath.
3. among the sons of Levi,
4. by their families.

5. by their fathers' households,
6. from 30 years and upward.
7. even to 50 years old,
8. all who enter the service to do the work for the Tent of Meeting.

9. this is the work for the descendants of Kohath,
10. in the Tent of Meeting concerning the Most Holy Things.
11. when the camp sets out Aaron and his sons shall go in,
12. they shall take down the Veil and the Screen.

13. cover the Ark with the Testimony,
14. they shall lay a Covering of porpoise skin on the {{{ Ark.
15. spread over a Cloth of pure blue,
16. insert the Poles.

17. over the Table of the Bread of Presence,
18. they shall spread a cloth of blue.
19. put on the Dishes and the Pans,
20. the Sacrificial Bowls and the Jars for the Libation.

21. the Continual Bread, }}
22. they shall spread over them a Cloth of scarlet material.
23. cover the same with a Covering of porpoise skin,
24. insert the Poles.

25. they shall take a Blue Cloth and cover the Lampstand for the Light,
26. along with the Lamps  Snuffers and Firepans.
27. all oil Vessels by which they serve,
28. they shall put all the Utensils in a Covering of porpoise skin.

29. put in the carrying Bars,
30. over the Golden Altar they shall spread a Blue Cloth to cover.
31. a Covering of porpoise skin,
32. insert the Poles.

33. they shall take all the Utensils of service with which they serve in the Sanctuary,
34. put them in a Blue Cloth.
35. cover them with a Covering of porpoise skin,
36. put them on the carrying Bars.

37. they shall take away the ashes from the Altar,
38. spread a Purple Cloth over the {{{ Altar.
39. they shall place on all the Utensils,
40. which they serve in connection.

41. the Firepans  Forks  Shovels and Basins,
42. all the Utensils of the Altar.
43. they shall spread a Cover of porpoise skin over,
44. insert the Poles.

45. when Aaron and his sons have finished covering the Holy Objects and all the Furnishings of the Sanctuary,
46. when the camp is to set out.
47. after the sons of Kohath will come to carry them,
48. so that they may not touch the Holy Objects and die.

49. these are the things in the Tent of Meeting which the sons of Kohath are to carry,
50. the responsibility of Eleazar the son of Aaron the Priest is the oil for the Light.
51. Fragrant Incense  Continual Grain Offering and the Anointing Oil,
52. the responsibility of all the Tabernacle with all the Sanctuary and Furnishings.
