JUDGES
Chapter 1
1. came after the death of Joshua. 2. the sons of Israel inquired from YHVH. 3. saying who shall go up 1st for us. 4. against the canaanites to fight against them.
5. YHVH Said Judah shall go up. 6. behold I have Given the Land into his hand. 7. Judah said to Simeon their brother come up with us. 8. to the territory Allotted us and fight the canaanites.
9. they turned to go with them into the territory Allotted to them. 10. Simeon went and Judah went up. 11. YHVH Gave the canaanites and the perizzites into their hands. 12. they defeated 10,000 men at bezek.
13. they found lord-bezek at bezek and fought against him. 14. they defeated the canaanites and the perizzites. 15. lord-bezek fled and they pursued him. 16. catching him they cut off his thumbs and big toes.
17. lord-bezek said 70 kings with their thumbs and their big toes cut off. 18. used to gather up scraps under my table. 19. as i have done so the CREATOR has repaid me. 20. they brought him to jerusalem and died there.
21. the sons of Judah fought against jerusalem and captured this. 22. struck them with the edge of the sword and set the city on fire. 23. afterward the sons of Judah went down to fight the canaanites. 24. they were living in the hill country and in negev the lowland.
25. Judah went against the canaanites who lived in hebron.

27. they struck sheshai ahiman and talmai.
28. then from there he went against the inhabitants of debir. }}

30. Caleb said the one who attacks kiriath-sepher and captures. 31. i will give him my daughter Achsah for a wife. 32. Othniel the son of Kenaz Caleb's younger brother captured. 33. he gave him his daughter Achsah for a wife.
34. happened she came to persuaded him. 35. she asks her father for a field. 36. she got-off from her donkey. 37. Caleb said what do you want?

54. they gave hebron to Caleb as Moses promised. 55. for he drove out from there the 3 sons of anak. 56. the sons of Benjamin did not drive out the jebusites who lived in jerusalem. 57. the jebusites have lived with the sons of Benjamin in jerusalem to this day.
58. the house of Joseph went up against bethel.
59. YHVH was with them as the house of Joseph spied out bethel.

61. the spies saw a male coming out of the city.
62. said to him please show us the entrance to the city and we will treat you kindly.
63. he showed them the entrance to the city.
64. they struck the city with the edge of the sword.
65. they let the male and all his family go free.

67. they named this luz which is the name to this day.
68. Manasseh did not take possession of beth-shean and their villages or taanach and their villages. 69. or the inhabitants of dor and their villages. 70. or the inhabitants of ibleam and their villages. 71. or the inhabitants of megiddo and their villages.
72. the canaanites persisted in living in the Land. 73. came when Israel became strong. 74. they put the canaanites to forced labor. 75. but they did not drive them out completely.
76. neither did Ephraim drive out the canaanites who were living in gezer. 77. the canaanites lived in gezer among them. 78. Zebulun did not drive out the inhabitants of kitron or the inhabitants of nahalol. 79. the canaanites lived among them and became subject to forced labor.
80. Asher did not drive out the inhabitants of acco. 81. or the inhabitants of sidon ahlab achzib helbah aphik and rehob. 82. the Asherites lived among the canaanites. 83. with the inhabitants of the land for they did not drive them out.
84. Naphtali did not drive out the inhabitants of beth-shemesh. 85. or the inhabitants of beth-anath. 86. they lived among the canaanites the inhabitants of the Land. 87. the inhabitants of beth-shemesh and beth-anath became forced labor for them.
88. the amorites forced the sons of Dan into the hill country. 89. they did not allow them to come down to the valley. 90. the amorites persisted in living on mount heres aijalon and shaalbim. 91. the power of the house of Joseph grew strong and they became forced labor.

Chapter 2
1. an Angel from YHVH came up from gilgal to bochim.
2. {{{ YHVH Said I Brought you from egypt.
3. Led you into the Land which I have Sworn to your fathers.
4. I Said I will never break MY Covenant with you.
5. you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this Land. 6. you shall tear down their altars. 7. you heard but not to obey ME. 8. what is this you have done?
9. also HE Said I will not drive them out before you. 10. they shall become as thorns in your sides and their creator shall be a snare to you. 11. came as the Angel from YHVH Spoke these Words. 12. all the sons of Israel with the people lifted up their voices and wept.
13. they named that place bochim. 14. for there they Sacrificed to YHVH. 15. when Joshua had dismissed the people. 16. the sons of Israel went each to his Inheritance to possess the Land.
17. the people served YHVH all the days of Joshua. 18. in all the days with the Elders who survived with Joshua. 19. who had seen all the Great Works by YHVH. 20. which HE had Done for Israel.
21. Joshua the son of Nun the Servant for YHVH died at the age of 110. 22. they buried him in the territory of his Inheritance. 23. in timnath-heres in the hill country of Ephraim. 24. north of mount gaash.
25. all that generation also were gathered to their fathers. 26. there arose another generation after them who did not know YHVH. 27. nor any of the Works which HE Done for Israel. 28. then the sons of Israel did evil in the Sight of YHVH and served the baals.
29. they forsook YHVH the CREATOR of their fathers. 30. WHO had Brought them from the land of egypt. 31. they followed another creator. 32. a creator for the peoples who were around them.
33. they bowed themselves down to them. 34. thus they provoked YHVH to Anger. 35. they forsook YHVH. 36. they served baal and had an ashtaroth.
37. the Anger from YHVH burned against Israel. 38. HE Gave them into the hands of plunderers who plundered them. 39. HE sold them into the hands of their enemies around them. 40. they could no longer stand before their enemies.
41. wherever they went the Hand of YHVH was against them. 42. for evil as YHVH had Spoken. 43. as YHVH had Sworn to them. 44. so they were severely distressed.
45. YHVH raised up Judges. 46. who Delivered them from the hands of those who plundered them. 47. yet they did not listen to their Judges. 48. they played the harlot after another creator.
49. they bowed themselves down. 50. they turned aside quickly from the ways of which their fathers walked. 51. in obeying the Commandments from YHVH. 52. they did not.
53. when YHVH raised up Judges for them. 54. YHVH was with the Judges to Deliver them. 55. from the hand of their enemies. 56. all the days of the Judges.
57. for YHVH was moved to Pity by their groaning.
58. because of those who oppressed and afflicted them.
59. came as a Judge died they would turn back.
60. they {{{ would act more corruptly than their fathers.
61. they followed another creator. 62. to serve them and bow down. 63. they did not abandon their practices. 64. or their stubborn ways.
65. the Anger from YHVH burned against Israel. 66. HE Said because this nation has transgressed MY Covenant. 67. of which I Commanded their fathers. 68. they have not listened to MY Voice.
69. I also will no longer drive them out before you. 70. any of the nations which Joshua left when he died. 71. as in order to test Israel by them. 72. whether they will keep the Way of YHVH.
73. to walk in Them as their fathers did or not. 74. YHVH allowed those nations to remain. 75. not driving them out quickly. 76. HE did not give them into the hand of Joshua.
Chapter 3
1. these are the nations which YHVH left to test Israel. 2. [( all who had not experienced any of the wars in canaan. 3. only in order the generations of the sons of Israel might be taught war. 4. those who had not experienced this formerly.)]
5. the 5 lords of the philistines and all the canaanites the sidonians and the hivites. 6. who lived in mount lebanon from mount baal-hermon as far as lebo-hamath. 7. they were for testing Israel to find out if they would obey the Commandments from YHVH. 8. which HE Commanded their fathers through Moses.
9. the sons of Israel lived among the people. 10. the canaanites hittites amorites perizzites hivites and jebusites. 11. they took their daughters for themselves as wives. 12. they gave their own daughters to their sons and served their creators.
13. the sons of Israel did what was evil in the Sight of YHVH.
14. they forgot YHVH their CREATOR and served the baals and had an asheroth.
15. the Anger from YHVH was kindled against Israel so HE sold them into
the hands of cushan-rishathaim king of mesopotamia.
16. the sons of Israel served cushan-rishathaim 8 years.
17. when the sons of Israel cried to YHVH. 18. YHVH raised up a Deliverer for the sons of Israel to Deliver them. 19. Othniel the son of Kenaz. 20. Caleb's younger brother. ]]
21. a Spirit from YHVH came upon him to Judge Israel. 22. they went out to war. 23. YHVH Gave cushan-rishathaim king of mesopotamia into his hand. 24. he prevailed over cushan-rishathaim.
25. the Land had rest for 40 years. 26. Othniel the son of Kenaz died. 27. the sons of Israel again did evil in the Sight of YHVH. 28. YHVH strengthened eglon the king of moab against Israel.
29. because they done evil in the Sight of YHVH. 30. he gathered to himself the sons of ammon and amalek as he went. 31. he defeated Israel and possess the city of the palm trees. 32. the sons of Israel served eglon the king of moab 18 years.
33. when the sons of Israel cried to YHVH. 34. YHVH raised up a Deliverer. 35. Ehud the son of Gera the Benjamite. 36. a left-handed male.
37. the sons of Israel sent tribute by him to eglon the king of moab. 38. Ehud made himself a sword which had 2 edges and a cubit in length. 39. he bound on his right thigh under his cloak. 40. as he presented the tribute to eglon king of moab.
41. eglon was a very fat male. 42. came when he had finished presenting the tribute. 43. he sent away the people who had carried the tribute. 44. he himself had turned back from the idols which was at gilgal.
45. he said i have a secret message for you king. 46. the king said keep silence and all who attended him left him. 47. Ehud came to him while he was sitting alone in his cool roof chamber. 48. Ehud said i have a message from the CREATOR for you.
49. as he arose from his seat. 50. Ehud stretched out his left hand. 51. took the sword from his right thigh. 52. and thrust into his belly.
53. the handle also went in after the blade. 54. the fat closed over the blade. 55. for he did not draw the sword out of his belly and refuse came out. 56. Ehud went out into the vestibule.
57. shutting the doors of the roof chamber behind him locking them. 58. when he had gone out his servants came to look. 59. behold the doors of the roof chamber were locked. 60. they said he is only relieving himself in the cool of the room.
61. they waited until they became anxious. 62. behold he did not open the doors of the roof chamber. 63. they took the key and opened them. 64. behold their master had fallen to the floor dead.
65. Ehud escaped while they were delaying. 66. he passed by the idols and escaped to seirah. 67. came as he had arrived he blew the trumpet in the hill country of Ephraim. 68. the sons of Israel went down to him from the hill country.
69. in front of them he said pursue them. 70. YHVH has given your enemies the moabites into your hands. 71. they went down after him. 72. they seized the fords of the jordan opposite moab.
73. not to allow anyone to cross. 74. they struck down at that time about 10,000 moabites. 75. all robust and valiant men. 76. for no 1 escaped.
77. moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. 78. the Land was undisturbed for 80 years. 79. after him came Shamgar the son of Anath. 80. who struck down 600 philistines with an ox goad as he also saved Israel.
Chapter 4 ( part 1 )
1. the sons of Israel again did evil in the Sight of YHVH. 2. after Ehud died. 3. YHVH sold them into the hand of jabin. 4. the king of canaan who reigned in hazor.
5. the commander of his army was sisera. 6. who lived in harosheth-hagoyim. 7. the sons of Israel cried to YHVH for he had 900 iron chariots. 8. he oppressed the sons of Israel severely for 20 years.
9. Deborah a Prophetess the wife of Lappidoth was Judging Israel at that time. 10. she sat under a palm tree. 11. Deborah was between ramah and bethel in the hill country of Ephraim. 12. the sons of Israel came to her for judgment.
13. she sent and summoned Barak the son of Abinoam from kedesh-naphtali. 14. said to him behold. 15. YHVH the CREATOR of Israel has Commanded. 16. go and march to mount tabor.
17. take with you 10,000 men.
18. from the sons of Naphtali and from the sons of Zebulun.
19. HE will draw out to you sisera the commander of Jabin's army with his chariots.
20. his many {{{ troops to the river kishon for HE will Give him into your hand.
21. Barak said if you will go with me then i will go. 22. but if you will not go with me i will not go. 23. she said i will surely go with you. 24. nevertheless the honor shall not be yours on the journey you are about to take.
25. for YHVH will sell sisera into the hands of a woman. 26. Deborah arose and went with Barak to kedesh. 27. Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali together at kedesh. 28. 10,000 men went up and Deborah also went up with him.
29. Heber the kenite separated himself from the kenites. 30. from the sons of hobab the father-in-law of Moses. 31. he pitched his tent far away. 32. by the oaks of zaanannim which is near kedesh.
33. they told sisera Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to mount tabor. 34. sisera called together all his chariots. 35. 900 iron chariots and all the people. 36. those-who were with him from harosheth-hagoyim to the river kishon.
37. Deborah said Barak arise. 38. for this is the day which YHVH has Given sisera into your hands. 39. behold YHVH has gone out before you. 40. Barak went down from mount tabor with 10,000 men following him.
41. YHVH routed sisera and all his chariots. 42. all his army with the edge of the sword. 43. before Barak sisera alighted from his chariot. 44. they fled away on foot.
45. Barak pursued the chariots and the army, 46. as far as harosheth-hagoyim. 47. all the army of sisera fell by the edge of the sword. 48. not even 1 was left.
49. sisera fled away on foot. 50. to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite. 51. for there was peace between jabin the king of hazor. 52. and the house of Heber the Kenite.
53. Jael went out to meet sisera saying turn aside my master. 54. turn aside to me and do not be afraid. 55. he turned aside to her tent. 56. she covered him with a rug.
57. he said please. 58. give me a little water to drink for i am thirsty. 59. she opened a bottle of milk. 60. gave him a drink and she covered him.
61. he said stand in the doorway of the tent. 62. if anyone comes and inquires of you. 63. saying is there anyone here? 64. you shall say no.
65. Jael Heber's wife. 66. took a tent peg. 67. and seized a hammer in her hand. 68. went secretly to him.
69. drove the peg into his temple. 70. this went through to the ground. 71. for he was sound asleep from exhaustion, 72. he died.
73. behold as Barak pursued sisera Jael came out to meet him. 74. said come and i will show you the male whom you are seeking. 75. he entered with her and behold. 76. sisera was lying dead with the tent peg in his temple.
77. the CREATOR subdued on that day. 78. jabin the king of canaan before the sons of Israel. 79. the hand of the sons of Israel pressed heavier and heavier upon jabin the king of canaan. 80. until they had destroyed jabin the king of canaan.
Chapter 4 ( part 2 )
1. Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam sang on that day. 2. saying the leaders led Israel and the people volunteered. 3. blessed by YHVH. 4. hear kings and give ear rulers.
5. to YHVH i will sing. 6. i will sing praise to YHVH the CREATOR of Israel. 7. YHVH YOU did go out to seir. 8. YOU did march with us from the field of edom.
9. {{ the earth quaked the heavens also dripped.
10. even the clouds dripped water.
11. the mountains quaked at the Presence of YHVH.
12. this was like at Sinai at the Presence of YHVH the CREATOR of Israel.
13. in the days of Shamgar the son of Anath. 14. and in the days of Jael. 15. the highways were deserted. 16. travelers went by roundabout ways.
17. the peasantry ceased. 18. they ceased in Israel. 19. until i Deborah arose. 20. until i arose a mother in Israel.

22. then war was in the gates.
23. not a shield or a spear was seen among the 40,000 in Israel.
24. my heart is with the commanders of Israel.
25. and the volunteers among the people.

30. there they shall recount the Righteous Deeds of YHVH. 31. the Righteous Deeds for HIS Peasantry in Israel. 32. then the People of YHVH went down to the gates. 33. awake awake.}
34. Deborah awake. 35. awake sing a song. 36. arise Barak. 37. take away your captives from the son of abinoam.
38. then survivors came down with the nobles.
39. the People of YHVH came down to me as warriors.
40. from Ephraim {{{ whose base is by amalek.

42. from Machir commanders came down. 43. from Zebulun who marched with the tribes were scribes. }} 44. the princes of Issachar were with Deborah. 45. Issachar followed Barak into the valley rushing at his heels.

50. among the divisions of Reuben. 51. was a great searching's of heart. 52. gilead remained across the jordan. 53. why did Dan stay by the ships?
54. Asher sat by the seashore. 55. remained by their landings. 56. Zebulun was a people who despised their lives to death. 57. Naphtali was on the high places in the field.
58. the kings came to fight. 59. then fought the kings of canaan. 60. at taanach near the waters of megiddo. 61. they took no plunder of silver.
62. the stars fought from heaven.
63. from their courses they fought against sisera.
64. the river of kishon swept them away.

66. as the river of kishon. 67. my soul march on with strength. 68. then the horses' hoofs beat from the dashing. 69. the dashing of his valiant steeds.
70. curse meroz. 71. Said an Angel from YHVH. 72. utterly curse their inhabitants. 73. because they did not come.
74. our Help was from YHVH. 75. the Help from YHVH was against their warriors. 76. the most blessed of women is Jael. 77. the wife of Heber the kenite.
78. most blessed is she of women. 79. in the tent he asked her for water. 80. she gave him milk in a glorious bowl. 81. then she brought him curds.
82. she reached out her hand for the tent peg. 83. her right hand for the workmen's hammer. 84. she struck sisera smashing his head. 85. she shattered by piercing his temple.
86. between her feet he bowed. 87. he died as he lay between her feet. 88. he bowed and he fell. 89. where he bowed there he fell dead.
90. out of the window she looked. 91. lamented as the mother of sisera through the lattice. 92. why does their chariot delay in coming? 93. why do the hoofbeats of their chariots tarry?
94. her wise maidens would {{{ not answer her.
95. indeed she repeats her words to herself.
96. are they not seeking?
97. or are they dividing the spoil?
